The Tennessee Federation of College Democrats also known as the College Democrats of Tennessee (CDTN) is the college caucus of the Tennessee Young Democrats, and the state affiliate of the College Democrats of America which is the official student outreach arm of the Democratic National Committee and US Democratic Party.

Members of the College Democrats of Tennessee are members of the Tennessee Young Democrats through the college caucus, and some Tennessee Young Democrats chapters offer local mutual membership to college students. The President of the Tennessee Federation of College Democrats is an officer of the Tennessee Young Democrats and sits on the Tennessee Young Democrats Executive Committee. Since 2013 the Biennial Convention of the Tennessee Young Democrats and College Democrats of Tennessee has been held as a TNYD and CDTN Joint Convention.

From the College Democrats of America website:

CDA was founded in 1932 during the presidential campaign of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, because Democratic leaders recognized that the young people in our nation could be a driving force in influencing the political process.

During the late 1980s, there was a movement for the College Democrats of America to become the official student branch of the Democratic National Committee, so that young leaders could work even more closely with national Party leadership. With the help of then-Senator Al Gore and his staff, this goal became a reality by 1990.
